Hij kost 5 EUR (+2,50 EUR verzendingskosten), heeft een lightscribe
label en zit in een jewelcase met minimaal design door mezelf. De
eerste 50 exemplaren zijn handgenummerd en bevatten een kleine
gestileerde pentekening.

Pixicast Episode 4 travels the cyberglobe to uncover a rich vein of vocal
electronica thriving in the independent zones of post rock, trip-hop, idm,
alternative and related genres. Counterpointing this and rounding out the
episode are a selection of funky and exquisite electro-instrumental sounds we
just had to share. Show is jointly programmed by host producer Voide in Stockholm and publisher Pixieguts in Australia and
focusses on the music of artists around the Palace Network.

Ik
heb besloten om de nieuwe CDR "7 Sisters" al uit te brengen op
01/09/2009. Er zal geen CD-release party zijn. Wat niet wil zeggen
dat er geen optreden komt. Ik heb gewoon besloten die zaken apart te
bekijken om de beide projecten wat ruimte te geven. En omdat ik niet
kan wachten de nieuwe nummers op je los te laten. Vanaf 01/09/2009 kan
je de CDR in de store op deze site kopen voor 5 EUR (excl verzending).

Na
een lange stilte eindelijk nog eens wat nieuws. Allereerst het
heuglijke nieuws dat een nieuwe Distant Fires Burning CDR onderweg is.
Hij gaat 7 Sisters heten. De release is gepland ergens rond September.
Daarnaast mag ik melden dat het remix-avontuur met poivreVert
de aanleiding was voor een diepgaande samenwerking. De eerste symptomen
daarvan komen stilaan bovendrijven, want Doorchaser heeft de opname,
mixing en mastering van World Smaller Sweet Coloured (een
poivreVert-demo met 7 nummers, waaronder de geremasterde Distant Fires
Burning remix en een remix door The Combs) mogen verzorgen en er is meer waar dat vandaan komt...
En last but not least sponsort Windows een gratis Distant Fires Burning
download. Het nieuwe nummer Recidive is uitgekozen om mee de
nieuwe campagne van windows te ondersteunen. Voor elke download van het

It was a long silence, I
know, but finally here's some news. First I'm happy to tell you a new
Distant Fires Burning CDR is coming. It's called 7 Sisters and the release is planned somewhere around September.
Second: I can tell you that the remix-project with poivreVert has lead to a more profound collaboration. It's first symptoms are showing up because Doorchaser has done the recording,
mixing and mastering of World Smaller Sweet Coloured (a
poivreVert-demo of 5 songs, with the remastered Distant Fires
Burning remix and a remix by The Combs). And there is actually more where that came from...
Last but not least: Windows is sponsoring a free Distant Fires Burning
download. They chose my new song Recidive to support the new
Windows campaign. For every download of the song Windows gives me
0,50 USD with a cap on 100 downloads. So I could earn 50 USD. The song
is a first drone-experiment with the bassguitar in all it's

wereld is om zeep (maar we zijn met vier dus we kunnen kaarten)"
geschreven door Roel Spoelders. Het stuk gebruikt muziek geschreven

Leuke ontdekking! Op de site van de radio show staat te lezen dat Messier 13 (Hercules Bolhoop)
gedraaid werd tijdens show op 17/12/2008. In dit tweede deel van hun
eindejaarsshow hebben ze net als in deel 1 een overzicht gegeven
van het beste van 2008. Het Messierobjekten album werd wederom omschreven "een fantastisch plaatje met zeer broze muziekjes". Ik weer zeer blij om tussen artiesten als Barbie Bangkok , Madensuyu , Fuck Buttons , MGMT tot zelfs Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in de eindejaarslijstjes te staan.

Just discovered something really nice. On the site of radio show you can read they played Messier 13 (Hercules Bolhoop)
in the show of 17/12/2008. This end of year show features their "best of 2008". They said that the Messierobjekten
album is "a fantastic album with very vulnerable songs". I'm very glad
they put Distant Fires Burning between such amazing artists like Barbie Bangkok , Madensuyu , Fuck Buttons , MGMT and even Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds .

Aan iedereen een Gelukkig nieuwjaar. 2009 wordt het jaar waarin:
- een nieuwe Distant Fires Burning CD het daglicht zal zien
- de mogelijkheden tot live-optredens zullen bekeken worden
- er zelfs nieuwe samenwerkingen komen bovendrijven die niemand verwacht, je zal zien.
Daarnaast is er een nieuwe groep op last.fm, Belgian Ambient
het is een eerlijke poging Belgische ambient producers samen te brengen
en de fijne Belgische ambient muziek naar zijn welverdiende luisteraars
te brengen..

There's a new group on Last.fm, it's called Belgian Ambient
and it's an honest attempt of bringing together Belgian ambient
producers and of bringing the fine Belgian Ambient Music to it's
deserved listeners.
De Rock 'n Dance - Belpop iconen zijn terug in de studio gedoken en
hebben de originele tracks van Look Out te
grabbel gegooid aan dj's en remixers in het kader van een
remixwedstrijd.
Op hun myspace staat te lezen: "Alle remixen worden beoordeeld door de band, Nid & Sancy en Studio Brussel.
Remixes kan je opladen via Vi.be.
De deadline van de inzendingen
is op vraag uitgesteld tot donderdag 15 januari. De uiteindelijke uitslag
wordt dan in 'Brussel Vlaams' bekend gemaakt op zondagavond 18 januari en zal
ook een plaatsje krijgen op de heruitgave van Luna Twists debuutcd. " Dus waarom niet?

Nieuwe Messierobjekten review op www.goddeau.com
, die Distant Fires Burning terugbrengt naar MTV's The Chill-Out Zone
in de nineties (velen onder ons bleven toen op tot 2 uur om die show
niet te missen) en die Distant Fires Burning vergelijkt met de meesters
van het ambient genre. En dan nog niet op zo'n slechte manier.

Magazine Online . Iets minder lovend dan de voorgaande, maar
ze vergelijken Distant Fires Burning dan ook met György
Ligeti
de avant garde godheid van de twintigste eeuw en om eerlijk te zijn ben

previous one, but they compare Distant Fires Burning with György

twentieth century avant garde god). And to be honest I'm quite
flattered that they think my album is worthy enough to be compared to
the soundtrack of 2001:

Messier 70-NGC 6681 uit het Messierobjekten-album werd gedraaid op de Kinky
Star Radio Show op urgent.fm
woensdag 8 oktober 2008. Je kan de podcast daar beluisteren.
Op hun myspace
staat een kleine review (een uitgebreide review zou volgen): "Een
conceptplaat over een franse astronoom, het is eens iets anders. Dit
zeer mooi in eigen beheer uitgegeven cd’tje loont echter zeer
de moeite. Wij horen de aangehaalde voorbeelden uit de bio erin terug
(fsol, biosphere,…) maar gelukkig ook genoeg originele
ideeën."
This wednesday Oktober 8 2008, Messier 70-NGC 6681 from the
Messierobjekten-album was featured on the Kinky
Star Radio Show on urgent.fm .
You can listen to the podcast there.
They put a little review, in dutch, on their myspace
(a full review would follow). They say it's a nice concept-CD that is
worth listening to. They can hear the influence of Biosphere and FSOL,
but can find enough original idea's besides that.

is in Dutch . But it states I made a truly International album
containing very nice, atmospheric and slightly touching ambient. So
it's nice to know people think it's a very professional album!

De
remixwedstrijd voor het nummer Hit the Night van Arno (www.arno.be), uit zijn
nieuwe album Jus de Box, is afgelopen. Op www.proostende.be
werd bekendgemaakt dat Diskonnekted (www.diskonnekted.com)
de winnaar is. Maar Distant Fires Burning had geen onverdienstelijke 4e
plaats van de 18 deelnemers. Stemmen van de jury (waaronder meneer
Serge Feys) telden voor 50%. Dus ofwel hebben jullie massaal gestemd,
ofwel vond de jury het retegoed. Ik in ieder geval content! :D

was the welldeserved winner. Distant Fires Burning was 4th in the
contest which isn't that bad either. The Votes of the jury and of you
each counted for 50%. So either everyone of you voted a lot or the jury
liked it a lot. In any way I am very pleased with it. So thx :D

van Arno. De wedstrijd kadert in het bekend maken van de alcohol

Een goed initiatief waar Doorchaser volledig achter kan staan (en geef
toe wie laat nu een remix voor Arno liggen). Gewoon maar om te zeggen
dat mijn bijdrage erbij staat. Hij heet “Hit the (clear,
star-lit) Night (by Distant Fires Burning). Ga zeker eens luisteren en
stem op de remix die je het meeste aanspreekt!

Distant
Fires Burning – Messierobjekten is my attempt at
learning
how to make a CD. I
wrote all
the songs, produced and engineered them, mixed them, mastered
them, all by myself. I compiled the CD and did the overall mastering
of the CD. It is pressed on 300 copy's by Multidisc
(www.multidisc.be)
and has stunning artwork by my good friend Hans Bloemmen!
It's
an album in the ambient-electronic style. Big influences are:
Biosphere,
Brian Eno, Loscil, The Future Sound Of London, Global Communication,
...
My
inspiration are the deep-sky objects that are visible with an
aperture telescope, catalogued by French astronomer Charles Messier
in the 18th
Century. It's my soundtrack for watching the stars, but you can also
see it as my attempt to bring distant objects / concepts closer to
me. By any means it was a learning process
for me, so my goal was not to make Big Money with it!
I'm
asking 9 EUR, this does not include shipping costs, It covers the
cost I had making the CD
