A lot of information about the use of H2O2 as an oxidizer is available in the world but we never found a total solution from scratch to flight engine. So we decided to start from the theory and work our way up to a low cost practical realisation. This led us to the discovery of a number of ways to make it happen. The two most useful methods were tested and developed. We called them DIS and DCS. DIS stands for direct injection system because hydrogen peroxide and petroleum are directly injected into the combustion gasses of a very robust solid propellant block in the back of the engine. Because of it specific property’s we had to invent the diaphragm/break wire system to overcome the so called ‘hard starts’. A necessary safety feature. DCS stands for double chamber system and is based on two concentric chambers. The outer one contains catalytic stones through which the oxidizer is pressed before entering the second and actual combustion chamber. Into the decomposed H2O2 the fuel (petroleum) is injected. A very small block of solid propellant takes care of the ignition of the mixture. The latest development is the creation of a hypergolic substance that will eliminate the ignition out of the start-up sequence. In order to comply with our low cost intent we developed our specific distillation apparatus as well as a start-up sequencer (electric and electronic) and last but not least the nitrogen driven pressurising system. Up till now thrusts of 850N, specific impulses of 185s and total impulses of more than 10000Ns were measured. Burn times up to 15s are now a fact. It’s impossible to go into further details in this short notice but because we want all interested rocketeers to profit from our experiences, we are busy to make a book with all technical details and drawings + DVD with photo’s and movies of our work, at cost price.
