The Collection: My Decks |
| Background: |
I did make quite some decks during the last 6 years...very enjoying indeed...but Iost track of some designs...I haven't got the slightest idea what happened with them...lost count as well :-))
Here's a compilation of things...
| First ones: Full wood vertical lamminated... |
These full wood one's were made while still doing a boatbuilding course...The one on the left is at Jean's place now...don't know if it's used...The bigger 120cm one ended up at Dready Boy's shack, after re-varnishing the thing I'll place a picture of it on this page
| Second generation: 2 panel technique... |
Nr 2: This deck is the one that had the first descent 'graphics' on it...all was varnished with polyurethane boat varnish with polyurethane paint underneath it...
Here I found out that waterproof marker didn't got dissolved by the used varnish.
Nowadays it's used by 'Kracht'...after some severe re-shaping that took away the nose...a complete revamping and damage restoration turned it into a cool looking collectors thing...
Nr 1: Must be a pure collectors item nowadays...this one started the whole 2 panel building thing...took 5 days to construct at 1 hour per day average...'Barto' is the proud owner of it now...and it is still used...
Nr 3: I'm sure this deck is still in 'as new' condition at 'Cee' 's place...I remember seeing it back after 2 years and I was knocked off my chair by the sight of it...
Nr 4-3-2: A nice trio together...this was the last time I used these graphics...a bit too much work...Nr 4: is the only old one I've still got...and will keep...2005: gave it away to Vis for his birthday :-)
Nr 5a: when things
go wrong...sits
some where in the
cellar...
Nr 5b: This was something...what a influence it had on a lot of you out there...It had aluminum on the underside and looked fabulous...Eva has it standing in her living room...it bent when moving a 80Kg sculpture in Paris...
Nr 7: again, when things go wrong...gave the thing to Geert...must have turned into something else by now....
Nr 10: Haven't got a clue what was made in-between...this deck sits in our living room. My girlfriend likes it...never used and painted by our local artist Romeo...
2005: Gave it to Eva as a present...it is decorating a wall now...
Nr 8: This is really a "dunno what happened with this one" deck...Looks like it was made at the same time as nr 7...I found another picture of it in glue stage...
Nr 11: Quite a nice deck this is...used and abused it for a long time...has my face on it for a change...lingers around in the cellar...not used for the moment...will be restored to pristine condition and has no future goals in life... :-)
Was wrecked by a bus in Rotterdam...was reshaped on the spot and driven for a few hours...Made it to the scrapyard afterwards :-)
Nr 12: This is a short deck I've made together with Eva for her everyday trip in to the city...She's wanted a small tail to have that extra dimension...a thing for 'Galla'z'
Nr 13: Romeo's busy removing excess paper from the photocopy's that were stuck into the varnish...He added the picture of a famous Belgian gangster on it...the deck is Eva's and still not finished yet...pity...
Nr 14: If there's one deck I can advise to any one, it's this baby.
It's my favorite,drop-through mounted trucks, low gravity, solid, nearly un-destructible, superb, cruising and racing deck...And you don't have to even glue something...yep, it's made from a solid 18mm thick plywood panel...must build another one !!! love it...used daily...
2005: I swapped it for a crate of beer at the Chamrousse Downhill Free-Ride...Ewoud uses it as his main downhill setup now...I want another one so I will just build one then :-)...It's in good hands now!
Nr 15: The first deck to come out of the press I've made...it is still in un-varnished state and there has to be something done with it...work in progress I call it...
Was sold to Glenn from Utrecht in the Netherlands...
Nr 18: The first composite/epoxy experiment I did...turned out to be a nice flexible deck with a superb re-bounce...Geert who is 'Captain Carveman' himself tested the deck and approved it...
Also sold to Glenn from Utrecht
Nr 16: The second deck to come out of the press...Victor who lives over here loves it...and takes good care of it as well...the most perfect finished one I ever made actually!
FE-01: First of a series of glassfiber/epoxy glued decks...Holes for mounting trucks still have to be drilled...varnished and ready...will be sold too...because I'm more into streetluging...and will keep only one or two decks...
FE-02: Again a deck with fiberglass reinforcement and glued with epoxy...
Eva did the silkscreen printing and I did the tech stuff...
This a deck made specially for Eva as there was a need for a "Girly" deck that she can cruise the world with...
Sharky!...nothing more to say about it...3 times 4mm plywood core with glassfiber inbetween...superb deck...loads of work to build it...a joy to cruise it...Might be sold...not sure yet...
FE-03: A good friend of mine (Fish! a.k.a DJ Mr33), wanted a longboard...my answer was simple: "Come and build one yourself !!!"...And so this happened...he paid the materials and used my press...I helped with cutting out the shape (same as FE-01)...and Fish went home with a blank deck...
The deck came back after a paintjob mishap, so I pulled my airbrush gear out of the cellar and went on with it...this is a jolly nice result ...this longboard is used in Gent (Belgium)...
