Outdoor museumIn the beautifully situated outdoor museum, visitors are given an impression of the living and working conditions in various parts of Africa. Exhibits include a Ghanaian living compound, an authentic reconstruction of a village in Mali, a compound of the Baka pygmees in Cameroon and houses on stilts from Benin. The presentations in the indoor museum focus on the world views of Africa and portrayals of its peoples. These impressions of Africa, both traditional and contemporary, are made visible by an extensive collection including masks, jewellery, ornaments and utensils. Each temporary exhibition has its own special theme.
During the summer months all kinds of activities are organised in het outdoor museum. Visitors can take part in workshops on, for exemple, dance and music, as well as attending cooking demonstrations. There are performances by African musicians and by a
storyteller.
