Microsoft Launches Future Pro Photographers Photography Contest

May 5, 2006: Microsoft has launched a new photographic contest that is designed to provide an opportunity for college and university student photographers from around the world to showcase their artistic talent and photographic style.

Open to photographers 18 years or older who are currently enrolled in a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree granting college or university, it is the most lucrative contest of its kind for art photography. Grand Prize in the Microsoft Future Pro Photographers Photography Contest is $US 20,000 in cash plus a digital workflow package consisting of a Canon EOS 30D, Dell Precision workstation computer, Epson Stylus Photo 2400 printer and Adobe Creative Suite 2. A personal portfolio review by the Corbis stock photo agency is also included.

Three "First Prizes" will also be awarded in the following categories: Nature & Landscape; People & Portraits; and Fine Art. Winners will receive $US2,000 in cash plus the same collection of computer hardware and software as in the grand prize - but not the Corbis portfolio.

Entries will only be accepted online. Photographers may enter up to three JPEG images per category and entries must be in the sRGB colour space with a maximum file size of 2MB and longest dimension of 1024 pixels. Deadline for submissions is May 31, 2006. For more information, click on
