This exhibition will include Congolese objects from private New Orleans
collections to compliment the archive.
A lecture by David Binkley, Frese Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced
Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art will be held on January 11,
2007 at 7 pm in Multimedia Room 1 of Loyola's Monroe Library. A reception in the
Diboll Gallery will follow.

Loyola’s Collins C. Diboll Gallery will host, “Stop the Sun: Art and
Agency in Kuba Funeral Rituals,” a lecture by David Binkley, Frese Senior
Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in Visual Arts, National Gallery of
Art, on January 11,2006 at 7 p.m., in Multimedia Room II of Loyola’s Monroe
Library. A reception will follow in the Diboll Gallery.
The event is in conjunction with the gallery’s current exhibition, Inside
the
Congo
: An Introduction to the Field Research Archives of Frére Joseph
Cornet (Part II. The show, which runs through February 28, 2007, is
curated by William Fagaly, the Francoise Billion Richardson Curator of African
Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, and includes Congolese objects from private
New Orleans
collections to compliment the archive.
