Fang Statue sold in Germany for 520,000€

The quite rare Fang statue  showed up in a small German auction house hermann historica Munich  specialized in weapons on Saturday, May 5, 2007

Originally estimated 200€ and after a while 800 € sold finally for 520,000€. The Fang statue was sold to a Swiss dealer and was resold after the auction  for 1 million euros to the French dealer Dulon.

This was the description:

Zentralafrika vor 1918. Einteilig geschnitzte, stehende Holzfigur mit Glasaugen, helmförmiger Frisur und Hals- und Armreifen aus Eisen, das dosenförmige (mit Zauber-Utensilien? gefüllte) Unterteil mit Reptilienhaut bezogen und verschnürt. Ausdrucksstarke, schöne Figur mit schwarzer Patina. Höhe 30,5 cm. Dazu zwei, jeweils einteilig geschnitzte Holzlöffel mit geometrisch graviertem Stiel. Länge 14 und 17 cm.
Provenienz: Sammlung des Kolonialoffiziers Leutnant Zickwollf, der um 1900 in Deutsch Südwest-Afrika stationiert war. Sein Kolonialsäbel wird als Los 6753 angeboten. Weiter Objekte aus seiner Sammlung sind Los 3259 und 3301.
