Leo Frobenius, Stereo photographs 1904 to 1906
Duration: ends April 30th 2006
For many years, the glass negatives were stored in archives and forgotten. Subsequent to elaborate treatment and one hundred years after they were produced, a selection of the glass plates has now been made available and can be viewed in stereo and in large format. In addition to exhibiting fascinating spatial illusion they show scenes of the Congo from the perspective of contemporary colonial discourse.
