Collections
The Museum was founded in 1969 when art patron Roy R. Neuberger donated his collection of 20th century American art to the State University of New York at Purchase. The museum opened to the public in 1974. This amazing collection -- on permanent view -- features art by Milton Avery, Romare Bearden, Willem de
Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Nancy Graves, Edward Hopper, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe, Jackson Pollock and more.
The Museum currently houses more than 6,000 paintings, sculpture, prints, photographs and works on paper. In addition to the Roy R. Neuberger Collection of American Art and ancient artifacts, the Museum's permanent collection includes:
- The Aimee W. Hirshberg Collection of African Art, Westchester Country's only permanent collection of African art
- The George and Edith Rickey collection of Constructivist Art
- The Hans Richter Bequest of Dada and Surrealist Objects
- The Alexander and Dina Racolin Collection
