Opposite the gallery where I will be exhibiting in January you will find the Arnhem Museum of Modern Art with a very special exhibition about the known  Dutch art dealer Carel van Lier (1897-1945), who had his Gallery at the Rokin in Amsterdam between the two World Wars (1927-1945). Van Lier was a promoter of contemporary realistic art and also was well known as a pioneer in the field of African, Asian and Oceanic art. In addition Van Lier was one of the first in the Netherlands to present photography as an art form, showing the work of Erwin Blumenfeld.

Go into the Shop's back room and click on Negerplastiek  ( below on that page ) to view images from his African and Oceanic art collection.

If you like what you see come and visit this Museum exhibition and after that have a cup of coffee with me, and see other fine pieces that you can buy, opposite the Museum at De Buytensael

I reserved some very special pieces for this exhibition that are not on view on my website, so if you want to have beautiful antiques pieces in your home, come visit me From 9 to 18 January in Arnhem, or after that date in Antwerp .

Your children will have some great valuable art, that isn't easy to find, and much sought after.

It's an investment, and you should buy valuable things that don't decrease in value with the years and that give you inspiration everyday.

Always buy at dealers with good reputation and quality that can sell you guaranteed old pieces.

Real African art items will enhance the quality of your life and bring you joy and inspiration, and also give you unknown powers.

STOLEN

ashanti-stolen-shoes  (text which didn't work, yet again) .

So if its presented to you, it was not unsold, it was stolen.

Please see images above (click to view larger)and read the complete description about the stolen Ashanti Christies shoes

Recovered: The Senufo belonging to P. Dartevelle, Brussels was recovered thanks to our last "Stolen Alert".

It was presented in a Shop in Paris, and the dealer recognised it, he said he would call the Police, the thief ran out of the Shop leaving the Senufo behind.

This is PROOF that our system works, so please ask your friends interested in African art to join the newsletter, and let us know that which you know, that is worth sharing.

Also I heard, after my previous message, that Mr.Eric Montheillet ended up in jail in France for having deceived many dealers in Europe.

Auctions.

Honour price for Ex-Belgian Congo Art in Paris Auction.

Lwalu maskThree African art pieces of the democratic Republic of Congo were sold for 470.000 euros.  They came from the private collection of the Belgian merchant Bruno Conti, collection built up over about thirty years.  With 190.000 euros, the Lwalu mask, known as "mfondo", quadrupled its estimate.  This specimen is carried out in a half-hard wood with the tightened grain, the mulele tinted with a mixture of fruit seeds and oil, which with time gives him this beautiful patina.  The prominent nose of these masks evokes the monumental nozzle of the calaos, alive forestry bird living at the water edge

Art tribal, Monday December 8, Paris, Artcurial, Mr. de Grunne.

 A strange Maya Silex flint

Maya silex flintThis object comes from  Maya culture.  It was preempted with 95.000 euros by the museum of the quai Branly .  It is a world record for a flint.  It is an offering flint, so called sceptre of Manikin, representing the thunder God.  It was used at the time of ritual including bleedings.  These flints were found only on the tombs of the elites or in the deposits of foundation of significant monuments.

Art précolombien, art tribal, Wednesday December 10, Paris, Christie's.
