University News

Treasures from the far-off shores of the Guinea Coast and other parts of Africa have recently washed up at the Yale University Art Gallery.

At the revivified Louis Kahn building, a new permanent gallery devoted to the arts of Africa opens, putting Yale African Art at the head of the class among university art museums.

Cameroon Art at QCC New exhibition Queensborough Community College unveiled a new art exhibit  titled "A Cameroon World," featuring a wide array of art and artifacts from the small central African country.

The Wabash College Art Department is pleased to present "The Wabash College Eiteljorg Collection of African Art: Art, Life, and Spirit in Africa"

spurlock museum illinois- NimbaSpurlock Museum Illinois Where Animals Dance is a discussion of contemporary masquerading traditions of West Africa, featuring masks and related shrine artifacts focusing on the place of these traditions in belief, social structure, and daily life. The ethnicities being discussed include Bamana, Baga, Nuna, Toma, and Bobo. The exhibit also includes discussion of Ci-Wara complex, age sets, secret societies, and initiation practices.
