Who's Who in African Art. EDITION 2006

from Guy van Rijn , 1kg300g (+/- 500 pages)

read also the Yale University Art Gallery- van Rijn Archive of African Art and Yale

The Who’s Who in African Art sprang forth from of the idea to make a contribution towards a more cohesive and annotated provenance for those of you who are interested in the field of African sculpture. Circa 15,000 names are listed. These names have been generated from 50 years of auction catalogues, and from approximately two thousand books and exhibition catalogues which included the names of authors/scholars/travelers/ explorers/field collectors/collectors. It is NOT an address list, but is meant to be used as a reference guide for background information. Following the name there will be a brief description that does not aim to be conclusive at any time, e.g. authors cannot be listed with all of their publications, and therefore only one title is mentioned. We are aware of the fact that there are authors listed who are maybe not directly involved with African Art, but who are interesting for their anthropological or historical studies. Some shall be removed in the coming edition and others will be included.
