Oberleutnant Fritz Engau was surprised by the tail gunner of a Wellington bomber on the raid of May 30, 1943. He had to bale out with his radio operator near Glimes. BAHA members Nicolas Clinaz and Yves Empain were able to find the exact spot. Few remains of the Messerschmitt night fighter were found, including a prop blade and parts of the armament.
