My own Tutorial DVD “Rockin; and Rollin” was published earlier this year. I was very surprised when producer Paul Swinton asked me to do the project, there are more qualified players out there than me, such as Darrell Higham, but I wasn’t going to say “no thanks”. I really enjoyed the project, and had to do a lot of preparation for it. It was very interesting having to analyse my own playing, as well as the styles of the main men of rock n roll guitar. I was told to place the emphasis on my style, but of course I’m only trying to get the feel of all the original guys, so we had to look at them all. The DVD is rated as “easy” by the publisher … www.musicsales.co.uk, so the pupil need only have the basic knowledge of a few chords in various keys in order to get stuck in.
Celebrated guitarist Dave Briggs, along with his band, give you the chance to learn some authentic Rock 'n' Roll numbers in a variety of classic styles (listen to some samples below) and play along with them. You will begin by learning the characteristic tunings, lead runs, passing chords and scales that give the add spice and style to the Rock 'n' Roll guitar sound. Once you've mastered the nuts and bolts, nine full-length backing tracks allow you to play along with the band itself, allowing the licks and phrases to really take shape. Furthermore you will find two bonus CDs featuring an extra bunch of Rock 'n' Roll jams with both demonstration tracks and the minus-one playalong versions!
