* inleiding - introduction - Einleitung

Reeds in het jaarverslag van 1998 kondigde de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie een sterke toename aan van het aantal diabetesgevallen overal ter wereld ("Diabetes cases in adults will more than double globally, from 143 million in 1997 to 300 million in 2025, largely because of dietary and other lifestyle factors.").

In the annual report of the World Health Organization of the year 1998 a strong increase of the number of Diabetes cases was announced all over the world ("Diabetes cases in adults will more than double globally, from 143 million in 1997 to 300 million in 2025, largely because of dietary and other lifestyle factors.").
In a good multidisciplinary approach a clinical psychologist is needed at different moments of the course of the disease. For some patients a psychological intervening will be necessary to support the patient at the moment of acceptance of the diagnosis. To influence the compliance and orientation to a healthier lifestyle and beneficial habits for that disease will be an other goal. Dealing with stress and depression are curative as well as preventive to an increase of the problem. Helping to face sexual problems, problems of mobility, and sometimes drastic surgical operations is another task. The consequence for the relation and acceptance by the family can also be a concern. The neuropsychological evaluation is useful for various reasons.
KlinPsy made a dossier about these problems with information available on the internet and has the intention to stimulate the psychological care on this topic.

Im jährlichen Bericht der Weltgesundheitsorganisation des Jahres 1998 wurde eine starke Zunahme der Zahl Diabetesfällen verkündet auf der ganzen Erde ("Diabetes cases in adults will more than double globally, from 143 million in 1997 to 300 million in 2025, largely because of dietary and other lifestyle factors.").
