DASBURG MAP

The border town of Dasburg near the bridge crossings of the river Our was the staging area of the Panzer Lehr Division and the 27th. Volksgrenadier Divisions at dawn of the "Wacht am Rhein" operation.

The bridge crossings were crucial for the Germans in order to pour their tank- reinforcements into the bridgeheads and the villages on the "Skyline Drive" dominating the other bank of the river.

There was actually no continuous frontline in the valley, but the area was controlled by patrols and some isolated OP's that soon were overrun by "Sturmkompagnieen" that crossed the river at night in inflatable boats.

This map depicts a "what-if" situation, if US intelligence would have been able to warn for an imminent attack and would have set up a counter attack to secure the bridges before the Germans could launch their offensive.
