LONGVILLY MAP

In the night of december 18, 1944, the road from Longvilly tot Magaret was the scene of a huge traffic jam of fleeing US vehicles and men to Bastogne when first elements of the Panzer "Lehr" Div. showed up at the road coming from Allerborn. Other elements swinged south and moved westwards to the village of Magaret in order to cut off the US retreating forces.

In january 1945 the area was whitness of heavy fighting when the US forces broke out of encerclement of Bastogne and pushed the Germans back to the German border.
