... needs an energy, human and environmentally friendly soul !

"I'm not green, I'm human ! (Pether)

For example someone keeps the energy in his or her forehead and who dare to question

his/her own habits to the benefit of Mother Earth…

Some simple tips and experiences:

  1. Be prepared and love yourself.

  2. He who does not learn the littlest things, will do the big things bad.

  3. Let your children know!!!

  4. Involve your children and listen to their ideas or help them to develop ideas. f.e. they can ask for toys without plastic. When it is broken, no-one will have to pay for the waste of it.

  5. Many of our children are now receiving what is pure wast afterwards. Give them other things or even better, give them more of your time.

  6. If you are artistic, open yourself up and contribute something to Mother Earth in your work.

  7. Try to resolve small conflicts, this helps to manage bigger conflicts.

  8. Don’t use aggressive language. Offensive language is often the cause of many fights.

  9. Dare to evolve further than just today, and start today!

  10. Do print as few e-mails as possible and use paper untill it is full, if possible.

  11. Go to www.passiefhuisplatform.be or other website on building a 'passive house' (low-no-energy-house) A regular house costs 120.000 EUR average building price, a Passive House 140.000 EUR or 1/6th more, but it is possible to do with 1/6th less and than the cost is equal. In 30 years you will 280.000 EUR average for the energy-use in a regular house, 50.000 EUR average for a passive house. Totally it makes 210.000 EUR less. More than half the cost cheaper in a short time (because after you, people will live in that house too). Pay attention, you are saving almost 5/6th in 30 years time on energy if you use energy like before in an energysaving way. At the same time, you are saving 5/6th of your energy, that can be used in 5  others houses. The big danger is that we consume more with new technologie, instead of for example saving the money to invest in the future, in our kids, who may study, in their houses later on, in an own hydrogencar before long (?), etc...

  12. Use low-energy light bulbs instead of ordinary bulbs. You can get them in all shapes and sizes these days.

  13. Use your clothesline in springtime, summertime and autumn instead of the tumble drier.

  14. Use an ecological washing-up liquid for your dishwasher if you have one (e.g Ecover)

  15. Buy products with a minimum of packaging or products which have recyclable packaging

  16. Get some information from an environmental energy supplier who offers renewable energy

    (e.g. Ecopower)

  17. Does your company work with environmentally friendly energy? Then promote this through your publicity channels. Offer people the possibility to consciously choose for your company.

  18. Shut down your computer when you are not working on it. Organise your work and therefore

have more time for other things.

  19. Switch off electrical appliances when you are not using them. If this is not possible, you can

use a junction box with an on and off switch.

  20. Go to shops specialized in recycled goods or second-hand shops.

  21. Use old materials for new creations.

  22. Dare to experience the positive side of things and dare to express this.

  23. Take a shower instead of a bath. This way you save water.

  24. Lower the hot water temperature and see what you save on money and on pollution after only

one year. A few degrees can make a big difference…

  25. Shut doors and windows when the central heating is on in your house or company.

  26. When you are using hot water, don’t leave hot water and money in the pipes. For example:

when you turn on the hot water tap and you let the water running, at the end let a small stream

of water run out of the tap. This way your boiler will not start up again, all the hot water is used

    and you will consume less.

  27. When you buy clothes, try to find out who made the clothes and how they are made.

  28. Fair Trade – products which are definitely fair for everyone.

  29. Buy local and regional products, transport costs and needs are lower and you don’t have to

drive so far to get them.

  30. Use human and environmentally friendly detergents and use less detergent as well. (e.g.

    Ecover)

  31. Only biodegradable waste disappears quickly. Keep your environment clean.

  32. Don’t buy just to buy or because you can have it. Ask yourself whether you really need the

    product.

  33. To consume makes us happy for a little while. Ever tried consuming less?

  34. You can cut the grass or weed that grows between your garden tiles. It looks nice and some

people pay a lot of money to get this kind of garden look. This way you save a little piece of

    earth from poisoning.

  35. Switch off the lights in rooms when you leave a room for a longer period of time.

  36. Put your central heating at maximum 20,5°C during the daytime and at 15,5°C during the night.

This is both healthy and sufficient. If you do happen to be cold, put on a jumper!

  37. Wash your clothes as much as possible at 30°C instead of 40°-60°-90°-95° and use a

minimum amount of washing powder/liquid. Dare to experiment because washing machines

do clean a lot on their own…

  38. Use less and an environmentally friendly washing powder/liquid (e.g.  Ecover)

  39. wash yourself with environmentally friendly soap, shampoo, etc.. .(e.g. Ecover)

  40. When no one is at home turn down the temperature of the central heating but no more then

    C. A higher difference in temperature is more expensive and asks more energy to make up

for the difference when you turn the temperature back up. (unless the period of absence is

    quite long)

  41. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

  42. Use rainwater or well water to flush your toilet(s) and/or for your washing machine.

  43. If you cannot do this, find some other solutions. Cut off the bottom of a plastic water bottle and

put one or more bottles in the cistern of your toilet, if can open. This way you can save liters or

    beautiful water.

  44. Only buy plastic bottles to save water in your cistern :-)

  45. An old-fashioned urinal or a small hanging gentleman’s toilet outside for example, means that

you will need less water to flush.

  46. Walk, use your bike or use public transport if necessary.

  47. Drive less superfluous kilometres with your car

  48. Draw up a shopping list and try to shop in such a way that you do not need to return to the

shop for longer period of time.

  49. Do your shopping before of after work. This way you will be more at home.

  50. Try to combine leisure activities, music lesson, evening classes… as much as possible.

  51. If you have to be in one place for a few days, then try to stay the night instead of driving to and

    fro all the time.

  52. Why not go on holiday in your own country for once? It lovelier than you think.

  53. Get information on insulating and insulating subsidies, because without insulation you will

loose 40% on energy and a lot of money.

  54. Choose ecological insulating material

  55. Compost bio-degradable waste and use it in you garden or for your flowers. See how many

garbage bags you can save by composting … and enjoy what your flowers or your garden

    do/does for you.

  56. It is possible to wash your car with only a few buckets of water. Again you can save water this

    way.

  57. An expensive spare part for your old car is always cheaper than buying a new car and means

    less waste.

  58. Plant trees, shrubs, hedges… They give you oxcigen, shadow, birds that sing, fruits, a back

rest, they empty the puddles in your lawn and they grow old together with you. They give you

more free time to do and to enjoy other things.

  59. Listening is the beginning of accepting, accepting is the beginning of understanding,

understanding the beginning of living together

  60. Think enough, and do more.

  61. Time is free.

  62. Don’t leave the tv on while you are doing something else.

  63. When you are working on your computer, you can easily listen to an online radio station or to

a disc. So you don’t need a radio and you save electricity.

  64. If you smoke, roll your own cigarettes instead of smoking cigarettes with a filter. (degradable

    cigarette ends)

  65. If everyone sweeps the pavement in front of their own house, then the entire street will stay

clean… Act instead of waiting for your neighbour or the local counsel to act.

  66. Have you got a house of your own and the means? See to it then that your house is a passive

house or that your company is a passive company.

  67. If you are living in Belgium, you can go to the following site www.energiesparen.be. Type in

the name of your town and see what subsidies are available. Perhaps you were just thinking

of replacing the windows or the pipes or you want to insulate your house better or put on a

new roof… They also give you information if you want to use more environmentally friendly

energy or if you want to provide your own energy coming from local sources e.g. solar panels (take care about their

production, a warmth pump, (little) windmils…

  68. If you can afford it, buy a hydrogen tank (a container) and buy a vehicle that runs on hydrogen at the same time.

  69. If you can not afford it, try to drive along as long as possible with the same car (building one car = 20 years pollution)

  70. If you can read this, your computer is working. You will normaly not need the 'latest' version of a new computer next year. Use your computer as long as possible. For more space you can always change your hard disk or replace it. Reparing is mostly cheaper also than buying a new computer.

  71. BIKE ! BIKE ! BIKE ! ...
