Body sugaring recipe
Sugaring paste can be prepared with common food items, such as water, sugar and lemon juiceand cornstarch, honey or molasses. Getting your sugar paste correct takes some practicing. You can also buy pre-made body sugaring paste. This may contain guar gum. Since the sugar solution is water-based, body sugaring is easily cleaned up with warm water.
Some beauty salons state that body sugaring is preferable to waxing, because sugaring has no resins, except for guar.
Start with a standard body sugaring recipe.
Standard sugaring recipe
The most common recipe for sugaring wax is as follows:
- 1 unit of sugar
- 1/8 unit of lemon juice (either fresh or from a bottle)
- 1/8 unit of water
The ingredients of the body sugaring recipe need to be heated and mixed until they are liquid. Being heated the liquid will change from white to a light gold-like color. Do not let the sugar paste get too dark.
Then the sugaring wax needs to cool to room temperature. Now the sugar wax is ready to be used for either the cotton waxing or the sugaring ball-method.
Test the temperature of the sugar wax on the palm of your hand, knowing that is much tougher than the sensitive skin under your arms.
Body sugaring recipe variant
For this body sugaring recipe you need 1 cup of white sugar, juice from 1/2 of a lemon, 1/4 cup of honey. Mix the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, until the mixture just begins to bubble and turns smooth. Turn off the microwave and wait until the mixture has had time to cool down to a safe temperature. This could be 5 minutes or more.
