Contact precautions are important in preventing the spread of impetigo. The towels and clothes should not be shared with others. Infected people should keep their lesions covered with bandages or clothing. Children with impetigo should not go to daycare until 24 hours after starting antibiotic therapy. If one is taking oral antibiotics, all of the recommended therapy should be completed even though the rash will clear within 2 to 3 days.

Impetigo isolation precautions
Impetigo is contagious When there is crusting or oozing impetigo is contagious. Then take the following precautions:
- Avoid close contact with other people.
- Keep children home from school until the lesions crust over.
- Use separate towels. Towels, pillowcases, and sheets should be changed after the first day of treatment. Clothing should be laundered daily for the first two days.
The contagious period of impetigo ends within two days after treatment starts. If the school sores doesn't heal in one week, please return for another evaluation.
