Company names search: find out more!

Company Names Search - If you are starting a company, don’t forget to search for business names similar to the one that you want. I have seen it happen over and over again – people forget to do a company names search, and it comes around and bites them in the back. A lot of the time, even if they pick a name that has already been taken, no one will comment on the company name search for years. Then, as soon as they start to be successful, another company strikes. This is a deliberate strategy. Companies whose copyright has been tred upon often wait to send a cease-and-desist order. If you don’t do a company names search, they might wait until you start to turn a profit. Then they will turn around and sue you into bankruptcy. I have seen it happen more than once. It is definitely not worth the risk!

Company name searches have become so inexpensive and routine that there is no excuse not to do one nowadays. Back in the day, a company names search required a lot of effort. You needed to have people search through several national registries, scout out a whole region of the country, and basically look high and low for a company with the same name. Doing company names searches was so difficult, in fact, that people would often take outlandish business names rather than risk treading on someone’s registered company name. Nowadays, however, things could not be simpler. There are even free company names search engines on line that offer to check thousands of listings to make sure that you aren’t violating one of them.

Of course, a company named search is not just a tool for startup businesses. It can also be a convenient way to find business to business clients, or to search for a specific service. Whenever we arrive in a new part of the country, we immediately start with a company name search to find other corporations to do business to business marketing with. We sell a wide variety of products that can be useful to most businesses, so a company names search is one of the easiest ways to find potential clients.

A search for business names can even be an effective way to locate potential competitors. You see, companies are not required to disclose where they have offices, but a company names search will always turn them up. You will not be able to find a listing of all of the corporate offices of a potential competitor, but if you are willing to do a company names search, you can probably figure it out.
