Furniture Store - I really want to get some new furniture this year around the time I get my tax return, but I’m not sure I’m going to enjoy it at all. The last time I went into a furniture store I was so upset with the service I got I am not sure I want to go back for more of the same treatment. Though stores that specialize in furniture are the best places to get quality items, I’m not sure I can stand it. I many have to go find a furniture store that is further away and pay for delivery.
My husband and I went to a local furniture store in my area. We were looking for a coffee table. The salesgirl who waited on us was entirely too friendly, and was obviously looking for a sale. I understand that is her job and she works on commission, but she will never have my business again. When she found out we weren’t in the market for an entire room full of furniture, she quickly became short with us, and it bordered on rude. Not the best way to encourage someone to come back.
She was fine for a while, though her smile was not quite reaching her eyes after I said I was just looking for a coffee table. She was rather short after that, and at one point I had to hunt someone else down to help us. This furniture store is rather large, and finding anyone was a bit of a feat. We finally found a guy to help us who seemed to be happy to help us, even if it meant we were only buying a vase. This was the service I was looking for. When we went to pay for the item we finally picked out, we were dismayed to find the girl was the one who finished the sale, even though she did nothing to assist us other than greet us at the door.
If you find you get crappy service like this at a furniture store, let them know. I should have left and went somewhere else but I was pressed for time and wanted to get the coffee table I needed that day. This time, I will choose a different furniture store, and I will walk out if I find that I am treated like I was the first time around. I don’t care what kind of commission you are going to get from me; if you want me to come back you had better be sincere and helpful. I don’t need you to do cartwheels and throw confetti when I walk in, but don’t treat me like I am a waste of your time if I’m not buying thousands of dollars in furniture.
