CHALICE was born in March 1998.  There is quite a difference between the band back then and what it is anno 2011. The only remaining founding member is bass-player Chris Lagrange (ex Iconoclasm). For various reasons…numerous people went and had to be replaced…few things in life are forever.

For some reason, we always decided to go on, the metal-flame kept burning. Different line-ups resulted in playing different kinds of metal but there always was adrenaline, aggression, rage and hate.

DISENTANGLED, the first MCD, was recorded in October 2002. It gave room for five songs, including an instrumental.

In March 2006: the band went into the studio again. Their second album was recorded: INNER TORMENT. It had 8 songs and again recordings were self-financed.

Apart from these studio experiences, highlights were winning the metal battles for the Bang Your Brain-fest (2002) at the BTM-fest (2009), VELOCROSS (2010) and the WOA pre-selections (2011). We played the Bang Your Brain festival in (2002) and VeloRock (2011).

Musically… we consider ourselves a metal band combining melody, speed and aggression. We put different moods in our songs and try to vary, playing  acoustic, groovy or down- tempo parts.

Lyrically… the ugliness of reality is a huge inspiration. We see or feel a thousand things happening to get pissed. Religion, human behavior and personal experiences are just a few of them.

Nowadays, the 5 members in CHALICE share their passion for extreme music. We have our rehearsal room near Kortrijk, write and play new songs….still play some old ones.

The current line-up:
vocals: Pieter Dewulf
guitars: Hans Depraetere
guitars: Nicolas Bruggeman
bass guitars: Chris Lagrange
drums: Vincent ‘Vinny’ Debaveye

In the near future, July 2012,  we will record our third release.

After that, we intend to do why we started in the first place… and that’s the reason why we are still here… write and play mean, dark, suicidal, nervous music.

We will burn the stage and you will check us out.
We will die in the end,  so disappointed in life…
