"Beginning of..."

Hear now the words of the witches,
The secrets we hid in the night.
The oldest of Gods are invoked here,
The great work of Magic is sought
In this night and in this hour,
I call upon the Ancient Power.
Bring your powers to we sisters three,
We want the power, give us the power!

The chant which started everything. Blessed three good looking normal sisters with gifts far bigger then their biggest imagination could be. These sisters, the Halliwell sisters, Prue, Phoebe, and Piper, never could have suspect that they would be the "protectors" of the innocent and become powerfull witches and fighting the dark forces of the underworld. Their lives hasn't been that easy till then. Their mother, Patty, was drowned and their father Victor disappeared. When they were young, they lived together with their grandmother Penny in a big historical mansion, never dreaming that they once would find out the "truth".

The story begins, when Prue and Piper are moving back into the manor after the decease from their grandmother Penny, due to a heart attack. Penny or "Grams" had left this manor to the sisters, but was to late to inform them about their future destiny. Before the big moving-in Prue worked at the local museum, having hard times with her boss (ex-husband), while Piper was applying for a job as manager at Quake, a restaurant. Phoebe, who just came back from a abortive search to her father in New York, was doubtfull for meeting Prue again, since the incident that Prue tought that Phoebe was trying to make a pass at her fiancée.

We see Phoebe who is playing with an spirit board. She receives a message and follows this and goes of to the attic, while Prue and Piper are in the basement to fix the fuses, which were broken due to a big thunderstorm.
Finally Phoebe can open the door to the attic, whom was previously always unable to open. Phoebe discovers the very old "book of shadows". The other sisters than do find Phoebe on the attic, perplexed and realising that she is messing with, as Prue called it, a witches book. Prue of course was furious while Piper was excited.

In this same book, that has been passed from generation to generation, Phoebe finded the spell/cantation to awaken their powers.

And so begins an adventurous life for the sisters. With the main motto "The power of three, will set us free!"
