Book of Shadows

In the "charmed" tv show the three sisters are using this book to find spells that they can use, to vanquish demon or destroying these. Some spells they use for own benefit, what usual has consequenses for thereselves. Actually it's not alowed to use these for your own sake. The book is writen and composed by their grandmother and family. When the sisters find a new remedy or potion or spell to vanquish a new demon, they write this down in the book.

So, what is in fact a "book of shadows" ?

Well, a book of shadows, is already used for ages by witches or enthousiasts.
It's a book where rituals and thoughts are written down. It is more than a diary and more compareable with a bible.
It's a collection of personal interpretations and meaningfull expressions, an expression of a bein'. A bible shows more the way you have to follow, while a book of shadows shows the way which has been followed. I believe that such a book contains more truth.You don't know where you're going to, but you know where you came from.

On the internet you can find several "book of shadows", empty ones to order and buy, and for putting your own thoughts, but also full web pages with the content of book of shadows from people. Included with their own spells and rituals. After this you'll find some links to pages like this.
