We know James Read the best, as Victor Bennett, the husband of Patty Halliwell. So he is the father of the three sisters, Phoebe, Prue and Piper in the television show.
James wasn't really interested in acting until he was in college, studying Law at Oregon University. After graduating, he moved to NYC, and studied acting, where he also appeared in off-Broadway plays and regional theatre. He is probably best known for his starring role of George Hazard in the epic 30-hour Civil War miniseries "North and South", James has a long list of television, feature film and stage credits in his twenty-year acting career. Feature films in which he has starred include "Beaches", John Sayles' "Eight Men Out", "Love Crimes" and "Walking Thunder". He has starred in numerous television movies including "Harvest of Fire" opposite Lolita Davidovitch, "Full Circle", "The Other Woman" "The President's Child" with Donna Mills, "When the Dark Man Calls" and "Poor Little Rich Girl" playing Cary Grant opposite Farrah Fawcett's Barbara Hutton. His first job as a television actor was in a series co-starring role on the popular "Remington Steele", and he later starred with Margot Kidder in the CBS series "Shell Game". He has made numerous guest star appearances through the years on many popular TV shows including most recently "Becker", "Sabrina" and "Star Trek - Voyager". He also featured as the martini-swilling father to Reese Witherspoon in the big movie hit "Legally Blonde".
He also has a Master's Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University in 1996.
