OK, back to business:
What we"ve learned so far.
- we learned what the mediatracker stands for
- we learned about the events "intro, ingame, outtro"
- we learned what clips are
- we learned what triggers are
- wa learned what track types are
- we learned what blocks are
- we learned what key(frames) are
With this knowledge, I can now teach you a bit about the second event that takes place in the tutorial video you saw on page 1 of this tutorial.
let's see that video again:
mt-tut01.wmv
Look at the second event that happens, a text which is called "good job".
Repeat the steps from the first tutorial starting from the clip creation process.
You are going to do something different in this instance, and I'll teach you a new cool trigger placement trick!
You want to show the player that he's done a good job "after" he made the jump so creative as you are you are going to place the triger for that new clip after the ramp in a matter like this: (and dont forget the mousewheel when you place the trigger event or you're going to a dead end. it has to be placed inside the block that you want to trigger.. One more illustration to help you further...
In the first alpha version of Sunrise, there was a bug in the trigger selection process that I mistook for a "function". It was cool that you can place your trigger directly with the view on the road but that doesnt exist anymore.
Just place your trigger and continue. (condition in betademo1)
as an intermezzo to lesson 3 I'd advice you to make a map of your own too. (something simple) and start experimenting with the trigger function as it is something you should have in your fingers. If you start clicking around, it is very easy to misclick and set triggers where you don't want them to be (under ground, in a mountain , in water) if you are unaware of the function.. this way you'll totally be lost and when there is one rogue trigger that you are not aware of, the editor will be moody and launch your view at the start line. This is not desired... so you should play around a bit:
- create a map
- go in trigger editing mode,
- create a clip,
- play around with triggers by going into trigger editing mode
- test if the clip start when you preview (the arrow button on the top left of the screen) . NOTE: In this betademo1, trigger doesn't work when placed on start line (lap block)
This concludes the second page of the tutorial. Next we're going to do something "cool" :)
