As I am a quite heavy mac user, I am thrilled about Leopard (see the demos...), the new operating system that Steve Jobs presented yesterday morning at the WDDC07 in San Fransisco. It was not the first preview, but this keynote address turned out to be much more revealing than many of you thought!

With over 300 new features - and not just minor updates - Leopard leaves Windows Vista far behind. A true example of this giant leap is the full 64 bit support (see more...), native in every copy of the system! This makes it possible for the CPU to calculate e.g. filters on a 4GB photograph in less than half a minute, without the need to use a “virtual memory”. It’s stunning!

But what’s most appealing, off course, is the all refurbished interface. No one could see this coming, but hey, Apple did it again : an all new Desktop with a new reflecting dock. It even reflects your open windows! An all new Finder with easy access to shared computers with an iTunes feel: they even brought Coverflow to the Finder!

Another great new feature of which we didn’t hear anything till date, is Quick Look, a nifty litte app built-in to the system - but also in iChat, for instance - that lets you preview documents such as word/excel/pdf/..., photo’s or even movies, without having to open them in teir own program. (see Quick Look in action...)

“You guys will love it as much as we do”.

I think Steve is becoming as much an evangelist as Bill pretends to be...
