+++++ Appearance +++++ Because of its history of Siamese, Balinese is just like a Siamese except for the coat, which is medium length, very very silky without a downy undercoat. The head is wedge-shaped with large, alert ears which hollow and complement the shape of the wedge. The eyes are distinctly Oriental, slanted slightly to fit in with the overall head shape, and sapphire blue, the deeper the color the better. The nose is straight, with no break or rise between the eyes. And Balinese is a svelt cat with long tapering lines and a lithes but strong body structure. +++++ Temperament +++++ Balinese is active and busy cat, like their related breed, Siamese. They make excellent companions, loving friends and great playmates. They adore their people and great have to be involved with everything their person does. They're also very kind cats. Some used a expression: He is a clown with a heart as big as a circus tent. They like high places, if you don't provide somewhere high for them, they'll find a spot of thier own. They also love to play so you need to provide them some toys. But you don't have to buy expensive ones. A ping-pong ball or paper ball will do. They're very talkative and use any opportunity to speak to you. Sometimes they seem to be a bit demanding but in a gentle manner. They need lots of attention. So if you're out all day long , everyday, it's better to keep an another cat as their companions. Otherwise... it'll be difficult to keep this breed. +++++ History +++++ Their history is quite recent. 1950s, in USA, in Siameses cattery, some kittens with longer and silky hair start appearing from time to time. Thanks to some breeders who were delighted to this new kitten, Balinese was saved their breed. |
