DESTROYER
Biography
DESTROYER, hailing from Bruges (Brugge) and inspired by the likes of ACCEPT, IRON MAIDEN and SCORPIONS, started out for good after STAINLESS STEEL called it quits around August of 1983. Before that date the instigators of the band had already been looking for an adequate vocalist and bassist to complete the line-up. By September of 1983 DESTROYER's line-up included Kris De Vos (vocals & drums), Bert De Vos (guitars), Johan Declercq (guitars) and Mark Detaeye (bass). The band soon wrote a couple of new songs, and they adopted a couple of former STAINLESS STEEL tunes too, such as Euthanasia. In late 1983 they recorded one of their rehearsals and spread it around to the media a bit.
On May 12th 1984 DESTROYER shared the stage with EXOCET at the Albatros in Zeebrugge. Two weeks later, on May 26th 1984 DESTROYER shared the stage with EXOCET once again, somewhere in Zeebrugge as well. Sometime during the summer of 1984 DESTROYER also played at an open air event in Ichtegem, alongside AXEL and BRAIN SHAKE. The last fact that I'm aware of is that DESTROYER performed at St. Elooi in Sint-Kruis-Brugge on August 18th 1984.
