HAMMER

Biography

Very little is known about this obscure quartet. In 1982 HAMMER's line-up included Christian Taerwe (vocals & bass), Geert Leyns (guitar), Jean-Claude Neirinck (guitar) & Tim Suttels (drums). One of their songs was released on a compilation LP in 1982, on which HAMMER turned out to be the only hard rock band out of twelve participants.

HAMMER also participated in Humo's Rock Rally '82 talent contest, and as such they played live at De Gilde in Maldegem on February 7th 1982. One of the other participants that day was PURPLE HAZE. And on March 27th 1982 HAMMER played at JK De Optimisten in Zingem, alongside such 'illustrious' bands as JANGLE, PENTHOUSE and SATER.

Christian Taerwe later joined OSTROGOTH, while Geert Leyns was later involved with HIDDEN. Tim Suttels (aka Umsi-Bumsi) later surfaced in SHELL SHOCK.
