METAL KNIGHT

Biography

METAL KNIGHT was a young speed / black metal band from Waregem and they started out in early January of 1984. The line-up at that time consisted of Jurgen d'Hondt (vocals), Kurt Belen (guitar), Fouie Destoop (bass) and Jimmy Veraemst (drums). Line-up problems occured after Fouie moved away and Jurgen didn't show up at rehearsals any longer. Up until mid April 1985 Kurt and Jimmy continued on their own. Eventually they got in touch with Filip Priem and he accepted to become the band's new vocalist. After a few rehearsals it became obvious that guitarist Kurt didn't really fit in any longer and he was subsequently kicked out. Another while later former vocalist Jurgen returned to the fold, but this time around as the band's bassist. At last, circa August of 1985, the band was complete again when they acquired the services of a guitarist from Tielt.

Around September of 1985 METAL KNIGHT intended to enter a studio in Waregem and record a first (8-song) demo. Whether this was effectively recorded and released, I have no clue. A couple of gigs are said to have been booked as well : at Close Up in Harelbeke on September 14th 1985, and another one in support of STAINLESS STEEL.
