Sharpen that good old pencil you still have sowewhere in your house, and look at the result : surely not as wrongly is shown on the Danish postmark, probably very close to what is shown on the correct Dutch stamp from 1977.

Descartes

Stamps issued by France in 1937

An example of "stamp-twins", i.e. stamps first issued with a design error that was corrected afterwards.This stamp was issued to remember the 100th anniversary of Descartes' book : "Discours sur la méthode". Unfortunately the stamp mentioned "Discours de la méthode". The faulty stamp was soon withdrawn, and replaced by a correct one.

Birds

Stamp issued by the NETHERLANDS ANTILLES

According to specialists, the two birds on this stamp are male. Not exactly a good illustration for a perfect royal wedding !

Maybe a nice composition, but with at least three errors :
- the shape of the tiara is completely different from the one Pope John XXIII wore
- a Pope only wears his tiara with church clothes
- look at the cross on the top : the tiara has to be turned by 90 degrees!

Tuberculosis

At the time this stamp was issued, tuberculosis was still an incurable disease. To some people the message "Help stamp out tuberculosis" seemed a little bit too hard, so the stamp was reissued with a softer cry : "Help promote health.

At least in all European countries, and in any case in Italy, the red traffic light is always on the top !

The buckles of ski boots buckle outward on both feet. This means that the skier on this stamp has two left boots.

First error : look carefully at the ship on the right, and you will see the moon stuck in the ropes of her sail !

Second error : on the date of the Boston Tea Party, the moon was not  a crescent moon.

Teacher's house

Stamps issued by the Pitcairn in 1957

Series of stamps with remarkable buildings from the Pitcairn Islands. One of the stamps had to show the local school. The designer however used a wrong picture : the teacher's house ! When the error was discovered, the same stamp was issued, this time with the correct mentioning.

This stamp was issued to illustrate progress in the industry of Korea. But in this position, the cog wheels are locking each other and will not move. France, in 1967, showed the right way.

Under the railwaybridge there is a carriage way, which was omitted on the left side. When the stamp was re-issued, this error was corrected.

Resistor

On modern resistors, numbers have been substituted with colors. Gold and Silver are always on the right side, marking accepted errors (tolerances) of 5 resp. 10%. Thus the third band can never be gold and the fourth can never be green.

Stamp illustrating Jules Verne's story "Flight to the moon". The manned projectile is shown with a trail of fire and smoke behind it, as if it were rocket-propelled. In Verne's book however, it was fired from a cannon, and not self-propelled.

The correct order of the seven colors of the rainbow should be : red, orange, yellow, green , blue, indigo and purple (not purple in the outer ring as on the stamp). Furthermore, the flag on the stamp is 26mm long and 15,5mm wide, which is not in conformity
with the correct ratio 3:2.

A man is being X-rayed with his arms in the wrong position. For a correct chest X-ray, the arms should be in the "akimbo-position".
