College Search - Making perhaps the most important decision of your life - your College Search - is no longer the nightmare it was when your parents faced the daunting prospect of choosing from thousands of possibilities.
The Internet brings almost every institution of higher learning into your bedroom study through scores of reliable College Search organisations.
No longer must prospective students spend time and money mailing out for glossy prospectuses and tramping distant campuses to find what they’re looking for ... only to find something more suitable when it’s too late.
Tens of thousands of colleges and universities are listed on sites like www.collegeview.com, www.collegeboard.com, www.petersons.com, www.collegenet.com, and www.u101.com. These are just a few of the websites that make the College Search easier - there are many more, and mention of these doesn’t imply endorsement.
But count on your College Search taking days or even weeks rather than merely hours. There is just so much scope in the Age of Internet to excuse a limited and sloppy College Search and making a bad choice.
Many College Search websites will enable you, though, to narrow the field by making specific requests about location, programs on offer, time tables, funding available, etc. So make up your mind what are your basic requirements before even starting.
Little-by-little, your College Search will produce the best options in the country for you. At that point it’s time to become even choosier.
Most college websites now will tell you of everything from sporting to library facilities and off-campus activities as well as describing the local scene and giving advice on travel.
Some will even invite you on a virtual tour with an online video that takes you around the campus, its coffee shops, gardens, sports fields, classrooms, laboratories, theatres and other attractions ... but unlike Mom and Dad, you don’t have to take the bus on a College Search to select your dream future.
