The University of Florida provides updates on changes on the campus and in its programming. Most recently, the University of Florida has issued the following announcement on progress and changes at the University of Florida:
“in 1985, Florida became a member of the Association of American Universities, the prestigious higher-education organization comprised of the top 63 public and private institutions in North America.
“uF’s Honors Residential College at Hume Hall is the first honors residential college designed and constructed specifically for honors students in the United States.
“the Gemini Observatory, the international consortium that oversees two telescopes in Chile and Hawaii announced it will provide UF researchers $3.1 million to design and build a bigger, more-powerful version of a UF-developed infrared spectrometer that has been in use for nearly three years. In 2000, UF became a partner in construction of the world’s largest telescope, a $93 million facility built in Spain’s Canary Islands.
“a statewide diabetes screening program is being made possible through a $10 million commitment from the American Diabetes Association to fund the program to be based at the UF College of Medicine.”
