Lake Mary High School - Lake Mary High School in beautiful Lake Mary, Florida, is a school with a mission.
Principal, Boyd E. Kearns Jr. has chosen the theme for the coming school year: "building Our School, Building Our Future."
Lake High School is going through a major building program and Principal Kearns and his staff aim to see students grow in achievement as their campus grows in size.
Already, Lake Mary High School has a rich tradition of academic, athletic and extracurricular success and is renowned throughout the state for its award-winning teaching staff and the quality of its 2,700 ethnically mixed student body.
But Kearns says that critical to Lake Mary High School’s continued success will be active participation by all students. "whether in the classroom or in an athletic environment," he said, "they can make a tremendous contribution to Lake Mary High School, and I look forward to their involvement support of events."
Grade A Lake Mary High School has a rich mix of white, black, Hispanic, Asian and Native American students in its grades nine to twelve. Nearly 10% of students have physical disabilities but are made comfortable by special facilities. Dropout rate is only one percent.
Lake Mary High School places great weight on small classes with average class size in math only 25.8 rising to 28.3 in social studies classes. Almost 70% of children go on to higher education. Lake Mary High School’s teaching staff of 150 has an average teaching experience of eighteen years and 41.6 percent have master’s degrees.
Lake Mary High School is part of the Seminole County Public Schools system. On Florida’s sunny eastern coast, Seminole County is a hot area in more ways than one. Enrollment in the county’s system topped 65,000 at the start of the 2004-2005 school year, with projected growth of up to 1,000 students annually.
