Empire State College - New York’s Empire State College is about flexibility - top quality educational programs tailor made to fit the busiest schedule.
Grounded in one of eleven broad areas of study, Empire State College degree courses can be as creative or traditional as required, specially structured to combine online courses with weekend residencies and with commencement at any time of the year apart from August at any one of thirty-five New York locations.
Empire State College offers many innovative ways to learn, including guided independent study, small group seminars, online courses, internships and the opportunity to take courses at other colleges. Academic programs - though rigorous - allow students to maintain work, domestic and other commitments.
Unique at Empire State College is personal attention and service that its faculty provides to students. Students work directly with a ’faculty mentor’, who helps at every step of creating a student’s degree program.
Students working through the Empire State College’s Center for Distance Learning, the largest online education provider in New York, communicate with their personal mentors through e-mail, phone or other technologies, as part of the State University of New York’s SUNY ’solution for working adults’.
As one of the first public, non-traditional institutions to receive regional accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, since 1971 Empire State College has enabled more than 44,000 students to earn a degree. For the 2002-2003 academic year, 17,000 students enrolled at Empire State College.
Empire State College is accredited, respected and known as an innovator and leader. Empire State College was a key contributor in establishing the SUNY Learning Network itself and has one of the largest enrollments in the program. The SUNY Learning Network is the online learning arm of the State University of New York that includes SUNY’s sixty-four campuses offering 2,500 courses in fifty-five degree programs to more than 40,000 students.
