Lansing Community College - Established in 1957, Lansing Community College is the third largest community college in enrollment in the state of Michigan with courses and community events offered year-round, serving about 40,000 students annually and the entire Mid-Michigan community.
Lansing Community College offers 200 degree and certificate programs (including one-year and less than one-year certificates) and nearly 2,500 different courses. It is home of the state’s first community college online degree program - with 3,400 students registering each semester in over 200 online courses.
Eighty-eight percent of recent Lansing Community College graduates who were employed in their field of study obtained their job as a result of skills obtained at Lansing Community College, and 90% of those who continue their education at a four year institution, felt prepared.
A huge 86% of local employers believed that employees trained at Lansing Community College were above average - none report employees being below average.
A multiple-campus institution with two satellite centers, with the main campus located on forty-eight acres covering seven city blocks and new 262,000 square foot campus in Delta Township, Lansing Community College facilities include Clinton County Center in St. Johns, Livingston County Center in Howell, the Aviation Center at Capital City Airport, the Truck Driver Training Center at Fort Custer near Battle Creek, and Michigan House in Otsu, Japan.
Construction is underway on four new facilities to prepare Mid-Michigan for the changing economy - Michigan Technical Education Center at Lansing Community College, the West Campus, the Health and Human Services Building, and the Administrative Services Building, which is to be completed by Fall 2005.
Thirty campus organizations and clubs are available to students at Lansing Community College through the Student Life Office. Lansing Community College TV is an educational cable access channel that provides original programs and international programs. In addition, Lansing Community College TV offers televised and interactive television instruction, as well as credit and non-credit seminars.
