Scholarships - Tens of thousands of scholarships are awarded every year, and the search for educational funding is - thanks to the Internet - no longer the nightmare it once was.
Several reputable websites are now available to steer you through the scholarships maze and help you raise the money necessary for college and university by identifying everything from those government and corporate scholarships you might be eligible for to those offered by charities, private citizens and legacies.
Some, like www.guaranteed-scholarships.com will even make the promise of guaranteed scholarships - those, which are unlimited in number, and require no interview, essay, portfolio, audition, competition or other "secondary" requirement. Just meet the criteria listed, adhere to the application deadlines set by the individual colleges and universities, gain admission, enroll, and receive your scholarships.
Such organisations say that the scholarships they suggest are mutually exclusive ... you will generally receive the largest scholarships or grants for which you qualify. But candidates must usually meet some minimum requirements to renew and retain any scholarships and grants awarded.
Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched after seeing a listing on a scholarships site. It’s advisable before setting your heart on financial aid always to contact the colleges and universities in which you are interested, to be certain you are aware of initial application deadlines and the requirements for scholarships renewal.
Many institutions listed by scholarships organisations offer grants, financial aid, and awards other than those generally listed. So do make your own enquiries. And remember that many colleges require anyone applying for aid to complete financial aid forms, even if they have no demonstrated financial need.
When applying, teachers and professors are typically excellent sources for letters of recommendation, but also consider previous employers, coaches, clergy members and community leaders. Also, pick someone who can address the award’s special criteria or the sponsoring organization’s particular interests.
