Used College Text Books - A recent statistic demonstrates that college and university students in the United States, United Kingdom and in other counties of the European Union spend much, much more on booze than they do on text books. Even having said that, we do realize that there are students on budgets who are looking for ways in which to save money as far as educational expenses are concerned. (Of course, perhaps the desire to save money is motivated by the desire to have more cash available for booze and partying.)
In any event, on way in which students can save money is by buying used college text books.
There are two avenues available to a student interested in buying used college text books. The first approach is by buying used college text books directly from the college or university bookstore. These vendors maintain an inventory of used college text books. At the end of each term, bookstores buy back used college text books from students and then resell them in the bookstore itself.
Used college text books available in bookstores normally are in decent shape and condition. Bookstores maintain strict standards on the condition a book needs to be in before the bookstore will buy the book back to resell to another student.
An even cheaper way of obtaining used college text books is by buying used college text books directly from other students.
In most instances, buying used college text books from another student will save the student seeking used college text books money. There is no markup of the kind that necessarily occurs when purchasing used college text books from a bookstore. Additionally, the seller of used college text books usually can make a few more bucks by selling the books directly to another student as opposed to taking up with the bookstore itself.
Of course, buying from another student requires some advance planning on the part of a buyer looking for used college text books. The buyer may need to make decisions on what courses he or she will be taking as much as a year in advance of actually enrolling for that particular course or those courses.
