The SAMF ( Société des Amis de le Médaille Française)

 

The SAMF was founded on the 28th of febraury 1899 by Roger Marx (1859-1913), renowned french art critic. Its aim was to encourage the art of the medallist and to promote the taste for medals. When the society was dissolved in 1910, 62 works by 52 artists had been produced. They are amongst the finest examples of the medal art.
