Revell 1/72 SpPz 2 Luchs (N° 03118)

back to finished pics

The Revell range of 1/72 tank kits are considered among the best available today. Very fine detail and at unbeatable price/quality.

After building the Revell "Fuchs" I bought the "Luchs" as well.
Both kits have the most work to be done on the underside (lots of tiny parts for the steerage linkage and drivetrains),
too bad you won't see all of this after assembly.

Next you see the turret and the wheels assembled. I flattened the tyres with sandpaper. (update april 18, '04)

Upper and lower body part glued, white spots are from filler, turret completed except from gun and barrel (update april 22, '04)

All the small parts are attached to the main body, everything ready now to start painting (update april 29, '04)

After one year hiatus I got back to the luchs, started painting with a flat black coat as first colour for the camo (update may 3th, '05)

Then green and brown freehand camo, followed by a few lighter shades by adding white, not really hard edges because I had difficulties with my airbrush, but a good exercice anyway. The wheels are masked by cutting Tamiya masking tape with a round template. (update may 12th, '05)

A coat of future and then decals applied with some microset & sol.

The lights, mirror and glass parts are painted with silver first, that's a good undercoat for translucent paints to simulate colored glass (update may 22th, '05)

Oil wash is then being applied, some drybrushing and finishing off adding final details.

It's kinda hard to tell this is a 1/72 model and not 1/35, based on these pics.

finished (update July 25th, '05)

I made a small display base and dusted the underside of the model in the same color (tamiya buff XF-57), see previous page (update July 27th, '05)
