Revell 1/144 Dassault rafale M

(I made a short article for the ARC-gallery with some more text)

Very fine details for such a small and cheap kit, so I highly recommended it

Everything is cleaned up, partly assembled and ready to paint, no putty is needed and most parts fit very well

Masking the canopy is not much fun in this scale

Use a fresh sharp blade for this or you could go on forever (update august 8th, '04)

Preshading done, same colour as the inside of cockpit (Revell 78).

For masking inside of wheelwells I use some dishwashing sponge (the red thing in the picture) that I cut to shape, works really good !

After painting most of preshading dissappears, I don't want it to be overdone.

Canopy removed again, will now paint the inside and the rest of the small bits.

I've painted the cockpit and seat and the rest of the small bits (update august 14th, '04)

Next will be decals and finishing touches. Future/Klir used as a glosscoat prepares for decals.

Markings on the bombs were painted instead of the decals that didn't want to stay on.

Decals and major painting are done, another coat of Future/Klir to seal the decals. (update august 21st, '04)

Then I mixed oil paints black/white/burnt-sienna thinned with turpentine for an oil wash : let dry for a (few) minute(s) and then wipe off the excess with some householdpaper soaked in turpentine (best wipe from front to back of aircraft).

Then a final dull (mat) coat, removal of canopy mask and final assembly of bombs and landing gear : done! (update august 24th, '04)
