Airfix 1/72 Westland Whirlwind mk.1
(Finished pics at the bottom of this page)
Buildup : cockpit and wheelwells painted, fuselage mated and wings attached,
sanding and filling done and then washed and dried, now ready to start painting :
now starting with a black basecoat for shadows, not really necessary but sometimes I try something different :
Underside painted leaving some shadows (update July 11th, '05)
Underside masked, first camo color green sprayed on top side, then cut tamiya tape for upper camo mask
(hard edge camo because they were factory applied)
Spraying second camo color grey, then adding a bit of white to the grey for a bit of post shading (update August 8th, '05)
Did some postshading in the green and most of the small parts are painted :
next will be futuring and decals (update August 15th, '05)
After decalling, finished off with oil wash and some metallic spots to simulate wear, both pilot and decals from the kit were used,
completely OOB except antennae wire (update August 25th, '05)
