The story so far... Youre a prisoner on a spaceship. The ship crashes on a strange and unknown planet and the security systems of the ship crash too. This is you chance to escape! So you escape. The onboard computer reports that a prisoner (You) has escaped, but I doubt that there will be anyone to hear it. After a while, you come to a door that seems to be locked. You hear from the oppisite side of the door voices , screams and a roar from some kind of savage animal or being. Then the door opens. An arm flies by, acompanied by a stream of blood. The being that did this sees you, and runs away. What an atmosphere! In time, you will escape from the spaceship and come into a beautiful and brilliant world, the world of Unreal The game My first words when I saw the game for the first time were: Quake II is crap... The graphics of this game are undoubtedly the best Ive ever seen! And it seems so natural, so...(fill in yourself, I dont have words for this...) The engine runs very smoothly and it is the first 3D-Shoot-em-up where I feel like Im in a real world. I am however a rookie in 3D games, because Unreal is the first 3D-Shoot-em-up Ive ever bought. But Ive played Quake II before, and man... it is nothing compared to Unreal. The music is great: You wander around the ship, acompanied by a mysterious tune, and when you see a monster, the music becomes tense. Talk about context-sensitive sound! Those are two positive points of Unreal, but a very important factor in these games is th AI of the enemy. Because beautiful lookin games usually bite in the dust if it concerns AI and gameplay. I didnt want the brain-dead zombies of Duke 3D! But my worries were quickly over. The AI in Unreal is SUPER! When you shoot at someone, he will not always take it, like in Duke 3D, and he wont make that rediculous "kneefall" as we have seen in Quake II, no! Hell walk around, jump up, or to the side, I can tell you, the goons in Unreal are some difficult dudes! And oh yeah, Ive put an 8 for addictiviness just because 3D Shoot-em-ups arent my favourite type of game. But if you like them, you can put in a 10 for addictiviness EP sez: Unreal is the best 3D Shoot-em-up
ever. Everything is truely briliant: the AI, graphics, atmosphere, music,
monsters, leveldesign,... If you love 3D games, Unreal is a must-have.
If youre a rookie in 3D Land, just like me, you wont regret
your purchase.
Gameplay: 9,5 Graphics: 10 Sound & Music: 9 Addictiviness: 8
Overall: 92,5% |
