Finding breathing places

To find places to breathe, you should follow these general rules.

Breathe :

  1. when there is a printed breathing mark : V or '.
  2. when counting rests. Don't use a sixteenth rest to breathe !
  3. only AFTER long notes. Prepare yourself for long notes.
  4. following the musical structure !! Can you find repeated phrases or passages, classical building blocks of 8 bars, a musical line, ...
  5. after 8, 4 or 2 bars.

    Please note that the fourth rule is the most important one !!! And that rule five is almost NEVER reached.
