Studyscheme
Tips :
- When you have a difficult passage, divide it into
small pieces, play them slowly with various
articulations. Play without hesitation, yes, that slow !
Group the small pieces to larger pieces, again with
changing articulation and without hesitation. Now speed
up the tempo bit by bit till you reached the needed
tempo.
- When practising it is a good idea to move hands,
neck, body and to walk while playing. Don't exaggerate !
It will open your tone and relax your body.
- A good sample studyscheme :
- warm-up : play a fragment of any kind of music you
like. Don't take technical passages.
- tone practice : pay attention to breathing and
breath support
- technique practice : don't forget that only
studying technique won't bring you anywhere. Always
check every note you play in technical exercises for
tone quality.
- articulation : again, check your tone! Do not
exaggerate in playing articulation exercises ; a
maximum of 5 to 10 minutes should do it.
- studies: ... whatever
- pieces: ... you choose
- relaxing : play the low register very relaxed. If
the tone doesn't work out you should check following
items :
- to much articulation exercises ? They can be
very exhausting !
- did I play too crispy in the high register ?
- were my lips and cheek always (relatively)
relaxed ? Did I pay attention to breath support ?
- Pay attention to your tone while practising technique
and monitor your technique while playing tone exercises.
- While practising change the tone aspects of what you
study : change a phrase, dynamics, ... Or change rhythm,
articulation, ...
