The climate change creates new business opportunities. Restrictions on deforestation, the need for Carbon capture and storage (CCS) and a growing population would all increase the need for planted trees or more sustainable forest management in the future.
Forest investment should combine a financially sustainable activity with a strong environmental and social responsibility. In times of recession forest investments are often used as a secure form of storing financial means.
Due to the climate change the world is concerned about the future. Planting new forest and manage them in a sustainable way will reduce the Carbon emission and battle the climate change but also creates a very positive image with regards to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of investors.
Planting and maintaining new forests can be expensive. Not only in the initial stage where empty lands have to be found and the actual planting has to be done. A major part of the cost can be found in the maintenance and security (against illegal harvesting) during the forest rotation (that is the time between planting and harvesting). To cover part of these costs the "Carbon credits" can be used.
With existing forests these carbon credits can make the difference between a cost-only or a profit making business.
FSG is initiating such investment projects worldwide and is currently working on projects in Uganda, Spain, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Indonesia (Atjeh). From all investment projects we have a project-idea document. These projects are for larger scale investors only. Please ask us for more information.
For the Bolivian project we are the European representative of "
