The IJzerkotmolen in Zwalm, a little Flemish village in Belgium is a 16th century water mill. Originally it was a papermill, now it's a grain grinding mill. On the site there was also an oilseed pressing mill, but not much traces of this mill remain today.
The "IJzerkotmolen" has been restaured in the winter of 1998-99. The complete waterwheel with the axes and toothed wheels were renovated. Now the mill is back in operation to grind grain. After the restauration works, the mill is open to the public again. Some alterations were made to enable a better view of the waterwheel. On this website you can follow the progress of the restoration works. You can learn more about the history of the IJzerkotmolen. There's also some links to tourist information on the "Zwalmstreek", the valley of the river Zwalm.
