Cooking for dogs !

Due to the problems we had with Drammer his health, we are convinced of giving fresh food to our dogs.

That is why I found it important to give it some attention on our website.

After giving fresh food our dogs only improved. Now they are full of life, their coat is shining, they have no itching- or coat problems, they have good poop, ... As humans we all pay attention to our way of eating. We speak of healthy food, biological food, we read the ingredients on the package so we know what we eat. Our children may not eat to much sugar, everything has to be clean, we have to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, ...

Why not our dogs ?

Our dogs are a part of our family, we love them, they work for us on training, show and competitions.

Food is also for them very important.

Due to the problems we had with Drammer, we were bound to give fresh food and gradually I read books and looked up things on the internet. We became convinced that dry food was not that good. Dry foods are very smart in adapting to our hasty way of life. Dry food is easy to give : take a bowl, give the right amount of dry food and put it in de bowl of the dog.

Dry foods smell nice, they come in easy bags and, like the manufacturer says, the food is "complete".

You have them in all sorts of variants who give a solution to every complaint : overweight, allergy,

osteoarthritis, ... Now their are even dry foods specially made for one sort of breed or type of working dog.

We don't have to think anymore - dry food is "complete".

But ... if you start to think, you have to think of the meaning of the word "complete" and the "why" of all these variants.

I looked up the ingredients and the fabrication of dry food and I saw what the word "complete" meant.

Out of the meaning of the word "complete" you learn the answer on the question "why" of all the variants.

That's why we decided to give our dogs only fresh food.

Fresh food like muscle meat, organs, bones, stomach content and supplements like kefir, eggs, fruit, vegetables ... everything without colorants, artificial flavor, preservation products and carbohydrates.

Dogs are carnivore and carnivore eat prey animals. They do not only eat flesh. The difference lays in the eating of a (almost) whole prey animal by which a carnivore doesn't only eat muscle meat but also bones, stomach content and organs of the prey. In so doing the animal gets all the nutrients he needs.

That's why we give BARF and for Drammer an extra mail of KVV ( BARF-principle ).

BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food of Bones en Raw Food.

This is the most natural way of feeding and it means that we give muscle meat, organs, bones, stomach content and supplements like kefir, eggs, fruit, fish, ...

The diet is given in percentages of the required ingredients.

Every day we make a Barf-bowl. It takes not a lot of time and our dogs do well on it.

KVV stands for "Kant en klaar Vers Vlees" or prepared fresh meat. We have chosen a KVV who works on the Barf-principle without grains, supplements, preservation products or other chemical products.
